Tumbled Culture Seed

Before our suspended oysters make their way to the farm, they start out as single seed from our shellfish hatchery. Once our seed has grown to a sufficient size, they will be taken to our floating upwellers system for continued growth.

 

 

Tumbled Oyster Farming

Once our oysters are ready to be planted along our farm beds, they will be placed in flip bags or baskets. This will allow the young oysters to be close to the tidal surface, where they can feed non-stop. The bag or basket shape that we grow our oysters out of is beneficial for the cup shape that it will form throughout its life cycle.

 

 

 

FLUPSY

Our floating uperller system (also known as the FLUPSY) is a nursery where single seed oysters will grow. The FLUPSY is located along the bay and brings a steady flow of rich algae and bay water for the young oyster seed to eat.

Suspended Oyster Harvest

Suspended oysters are harvested by removing the flip bag from the line in which it is suspended from. These oysters are offloaded into a larger bin and they will be iced and processed later that day.
